Berthold Barth
I took a very roundabout route to find my way into design and communication.
It probably started way back during school, when I caught my first glimpse at theater. I enjoyed acting a lot, and have done so for many years thereafter. I'm not going to lie, being on stage in front of all those people was exciting, too, but another very interesting part of playing a character on stage is impersonating them, thinking like them, being them. This requires research, and, being a naturally curious person, was just the ticket.
An even greater part of my time was spent playing video games though, and thats what got me into technology. I had worked in several computer related jobs after school, and so I decided to study Applied Computer Science in Bochum. You can imagine my frustration when I realised that the courses I was fascinated by - such as media psychology and linguistics - took a backseat to complex mathematic problems, microprocessor architecture and assembler code.
At the same time, I went freelance in the IT and telecommunications field, adamant to help small businesses get the tech that best fits their requirements. Yet what I wanted to be a constant stream of business owners explaining their businesses to me and asking me for advice on their challenges turned out to be a quest beneath desks, behind TVs and under pressure from large clients and contracts.
So here I am, about to get my degree as a graphic designer and looking forward to making a splash in the communication world. Sure, it's not going to be all unicorns and fairy tales, unless of course thats what the client needs. But this time, I mean it!
Berthold dislikes unprofessional behaviour, fussy eaters and Feenstaub.
He loves good workmanship, sports and Nintendo.
